A little bit about us and La Vergne

We (Carol and Richard) moved to our beautiful piece of France in September 2013 with our two dogs Max and Ted, both now sadly gone, but we have a small, quiet little dog now called Treacle. La Vergne, had been neglected and needed some love and attention from us to realise its true potential. We have renovated the house, renovated the courtyard, as well as constructed 3 fabulous gites and a games room from existing buildings.

Our piece of paradise in France

Geographically we are situated in the far south of the Vienne region of France, nestled between the Vienne river valley and the Gartempe river valley. Vienne is made up of rolling hills mainly and its climate, as that of all the region, is similar to the Aquitaine – literally one of the best in France, with mild summers and winters. Our property is made up from a house, barns and a Gite complex surrounding a gravelled courtyard which sits in a shallow valley comprising 15 acres of meadows, oak trees, wild life ponds and a fishing lake. Wisdom Gites are surrounded by open countryside which bring many opportunities to experience the local flora and fauna. We have a vast network of walk ways and cycle routes that allow our guests to wander far and wide with little in the way of traffic to worry about.
